We have positions for top-notch people, both students and staff, to join Utah's "Flux" Research Group, working on pretty much anything related to our varied projects. Our projects have a broad scope, so if you are good, working together we can almost always find a research topic of mutual interest.

Students

We have research assistantships for quality PhD, MS, and undergrad students. We even have had the occasional very bright high school student make excellent contributions to our work.

Details on admission to the School of Computing will be of interest if you're not already a student here. If you are already a student here, just drop by my office anytime or drop me a line.

Prospective graduate students, please note: we always want good students, are interested in you, and know that every student is unique. However, unless you have truly extraordinary circumstances, please apply to the school first, through the normal admissions process, before contacting me asking if I will give you RA support. When your application file is complete, then perhaps send me a note. Why?

  1. Applying to the school is free.
  2. I can't evaluate you for RA support without the identical information that the admissions committee needs. You're going to have to produce it in any case. The committee is set up to process your information properly.
  3. I can't give you an RA unless you're admitted. If I am not on the admissions committee in a given year, I have no or very little influence over their decision.
  4. Essentially every admitted student is already granted financial support in the form of a teaching or research assistantship.
  5. I get dozens and dozens of such requests.
Thanks much; you will save yourself and me a lot of time that way.

Research Staff

We pretty much always have positions available for top notch people, especially full time on-site, but also part-time and remote.

Contact

Current graduate students, feel free to drop by my office: 4548 MEB; enter through 4560 in the east penthouse. For staff positions, send a resume/CV in ascii or postscript or pdf form, with 3 references. For student positions, which if you've read the above means you're probably an undergrad, add GPA and any available test scores. Please, no Word documents!
