Artificial Intelligence
Calvin: "I like to verb words."
Hobbes: "What?"
Calvin: "I take nouns and adjectives and
use them
as verbs.
Remember when `access' was a thing? Now it's
something you do . It got verbed."
Calvin: "Verbing weirds language."
Hobbes: "Maybe we can eventually make
language
a complete impediment to understanding."

Research Projects
-
Natural
Language Processing
Primary research interests include information extraction,
subjectivity analysis, sentence processing,semantic lexicon
construction, and bootstrapping methods for learning from unlabeled
texts.
- Machine Learning
Our research develops algorithms that learn to predict the future based on the past; specifically: structured prediction algorithms, Bayesian statistics and semi-supervised learning.
- Autonomous Systems
The main goals are to contribute to the understanding of human
intelligence and to participate in the development of intelligent
machine systems, including autonomous bio-, software and hardware
systems.
