BROADCASTING

This page contains information that is useful when setting up a lecture (or meeting with anything other than the normal one camera) to be broadcast from Utah. Basically, information here may be useful if you want to do anything other than simply talk to other sites (maybe you want to show some slides or a video too). However, this page is designed primarily to assist with setting up an STC lecture to be broadcast from Utah, so the information here may be a bit in-depth if you are trying to do something simpler.

Tech Communication

It is important for personnel working from the editing booth to be able to communicate with camera operators during the lecture. The current method for establishing a link is to use the phone system. Place a phone station by each camera, and attach whatever headphone device you are using to the phone. These devices normally hook in to the jack used by the coiled wire connecting the handset to the base. Now, it is possible to make an intercom conference call without tying up any outside lines. Note: It is also a good idea to turn the microphone and speaker volume all the way down on those phones that are in the annex.

The following sections describe how to conference the phones using only the intercom or a mixture of the intercom and outside lines. This is taken from the phone manuals.

Conference up to Four Stations on the Intercom

Conference up to Two Stations and Two CO Lines, Or Three Stations and One CO Line

(*) The user receiving the intercom call must first either lift the handset or press INT to answer the intercom call. Otherwise, that person will not be conferenced.
(**) If the other line is busy or no answer, just press the CO button for the original line, or hangup if you don't have the original button and it will immediately ring back.
